Hi, my name is Cortney Morris and I am a complete smoothie-aholic! Is that a word? Well, it should be. Seriously, smoothies are healthy, delicious and portable, so they are the perfect meal for moms on the go! Smoothies are also a great way to sneak some nutrients into those picky eaters (like my toddler).
I love a good green smoothie! This particular one is packed with spinach, which is an amazing source of fiber, B-vitamins, Potassium, Magnesium, Vitamins C and K and folic acid! It also contains green apple for extra Vitamin C, Fiber and Potassium. Mixed with banana, almond milk and a quality protein powder, its hard to beat the health benefits of this delicious drink!
Grab your ingredients:
1 FROZEN banana (frozen bananas give smoothies an amazing creamy texture. You could do regular, but you would be missing out. Seriously)
1 Green apple (peeled, cored and chopped)
2 cups (packed) of fresh spinach
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
(optional) 1/2 cup plain yogurt
Instructions:
Place all ingredients EXCEPT FOR THE PROTEIN POWDER in your blender and blend until smooth. You want to completely break apart all the spinach, no one wants those green bits in their teeth! Add the protein powder last and blend on the lowest setting, just until mixed through. You can actually damage the delicate molecules of your good protein if you over pulverize it.
There you have it! A yummy, refreshing, filling, healthy and toddler approved drink! This particular recipe makes just enough for me and my 3 year old (about 3 cups).
