The other day, I was sitting in my nail salon chatting with the ladies around me while sipping on my ever present coffee. One turned to me and out of no where said “your teeth are so white!”. First, I was flabbergasted. Then I laughed and told her about the product I had been using for the past few weeks to whiten and brighten my teeth: Smile Brilliant.
I can’t ever remember anyone telling me my teeth are so white! I have been an avid coffee drinker for most of my life and enjoy drinking red wine a few times per week. I have used multiple whitening products, such as pastes and strips. Even extreme fads like brushing my teeth with activated charcoal (such a mess!). I also was never willing to pay the several hundred dollars that many dentists charge for professional whitening. Nothing has worked for me the way this product has. Here is my honest review:

First Step: Creating your molds.
When your kit arrives in the mail, it will come with a mold tray and 6 tubs of putty. 3 tubs are base and 3 are catalyst. The kit will contain detailed instructions on how to mix the base and catalyst together and place in the mold tray. The mix starts hardening immediately and you will hold the molds in your mouth until hardened completely. Ahhhh. Brings me back to the ole orthodontist days. Haha. The process is much simpler than it reads, so don’t stress! They even send an extra set of base and catalyst just in case you mess up! Once you have created your molds, you send them back off in their pre-paid envelope! That part is done.
Step 2: Receiving your trays.
Your perfectly fitted trays will arrive in the mail within 2 weeks. Try them on and make sure they fit correctly. If there are any issues, be sure to contact Smile Brilliant. They may have you re-do the mold process. Luckily, mine fit great, so I was good to go!
Step 3: Whitening
In the original kit, you will have also received your whitening gel syringes and desensitizing gel syringes. The whitening directions state to brush your teeth (with water only) and floss. Break off the tip of a whitening gel syringe and carefully apply to the inside front of your trays along the center line. Where you apply the gel is quite important! I had one whitening session where I accidentally applied it towards the bottom and when I put on my trays, the gel never spread to the top. I had slightly two toned teeth until I was able to redo it the next day. Wear your trays anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours (I find the sweet spot to be about 90-120 minutes).
This is where the con of it being time consuming comes into play. You definitely need to schedule it around meals and, ummm..coffee, its an addiction y’all. I usually put mine on around 9am after I have already had my coffee and breakfast. I would wear them through my workout, shower and getting ready for the day, then take them out and brush my teeth with toothpaste. At this time you can apply your desensitizing gel if needed. The only time I ever felt sensitivity with this product is when I tried to eat before their recommended 30 minute window after my whitening session. I would still occasionally apply the desensitizing gel though, because I found it to be minty and refreshing.
Depending on your whitening needs, you can choose to only do a few treatments or use the whole system. My results were achieved by using 4 whitening gel syringes (approximately 12-16 sessions)
I would like to note that I did not change any other part of my lifestyle while using this system. I still drank 3-4 cups of coffee per day and my red wine in the evenings. Even then, I got great results using the Smile Brilliant system.
